About Reflections Funerals

More than a funeral home.
A family who understands

We are an independent, family-owned funeral home in Penrith and Riverwood. We are not a corporate chain, and you will feel the difference from the first phone call.

A name worth
reflecting on

Reflections Funerals was founded over 20 years ago by John & Sue Hibbert, experienced funeral directors who believed families in Western Sydney deserved something more personal than the larger funeral chains could offer.

The name came after long conversations with colleagues, and a few quiet days to think. Reflections felt right. A funeral is a time to reflect: on a life lived, on love shared, on the person we are farewelling. That idea has guided everything we do since.
‍
Today we care for families from Penrith and Riverwood through to the Blue Mountains, and we still run the business the way we started it: personally, and with dignity at the centre of everything. Over the years we have built our own chapel, our own fleet and our own facilities, so that the families who trust us are cared for by us, start to finish.

Dignity is not an extra.
It is the whole point.

Our belief is simple: every person deserves to be farewelled with dignity, no matter their circumstances.

That is why every person receives the same standard of care and respect, whatever the family spends. It is why we speak of your loved one by name, never as "the deceased". And it is why, when a family is genuinely struggling, we find a way to help give their loved one a farewell that reflects them.

We are not here to sell you things you do not need. We are here to help you honour someone you love.

What sets us apart

We are independent.

No head office, no scripts, no corporate targets. Just a local family business that meets fellow local families where they are.

The same care for everyone.

A simple farewell receives the same respect and attention as our largest services. Dignity does not have a price tier.

Real people, day and night.

When you call, you speak to someone who can help, at any hour, not a call centre.

Relationships that last.

Many of the families we care for return to us over the years, and send their friends and neighbours. It’s an honour to care for our community.

Every service remembered.

We record and livestream services so distant family can take part, and so you have a lasting record of the day.

Everything in our own hands.

We have our own chapel, our own cars and our own facilities to care for your loved one. That means from the moment they come into our care, they stay with the same people, and with us right through to the farewell.

‍
I can’t recommend Reflections Funerals highly enough. The team made the process of planning my mother’s funeral seamless. At a time when we could all barely think straight we didn’t even need to because John was there to guide us through every step of the way, making it as easy as possible.

The service was highly professional with every little detail taken care of. As a result the service was everything we had hoped for and I know would have made Mum very happy.

”Just wanted to thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness & sensitivity in your professional capacity, when our darling Mum left this life as we know it, to step into heaven.

The way you referred to her as Faith not “the body” was extremely thoughtful and sensitive – we shall always be grateful. Many thanks and with appreciation."
